About The Role

Experience working with SEND children or in a special provision setting is essential for this role. Greenvale School caters to a diverse range of needs, including Visual Impairment (VI), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI), Physical Disability (PD), Severe Learning Difficulty (SLD), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulty (PMLD). The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of these conditions and their impact on children's emotional and mental wellbeing. They will be adept at adapting counselling techniques to meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring effective communication and support across a broad spectrum of abilities and challenges. A commitment to continuous professional development in SEND-specific therapeutic approaches is highly desirable.

As a level 4 qualified therapist / counsellor, you’ll not only work in one to one situations with young people providing clinical assessments and interventions, you’ll also engage in the wider school community to strengthen skills, and promote understanding of child mental health and the importance of early intervention.
